Yes, but the TOEFL grade shouldn't be less than 450 and the IELTS grade shouldn't be less than 5. The certificate will not be accepted if it was earned 2 years ago or more than that.

That depends on the type of courses that has been taken and their grades.
- What are the courses that can be equalized?
The courses that can be equalized should have the same contents as the courses in the Arab Open University. Mostly the equalized courses are the elective courses, which are 14 credits in total.
- What are the conditions for equalizing courses?
- The student must have studied in an accredited institute. A letter of accreditation should be attached to the equalization request. This condition doesn't apply on government universities, like the University of Bahrain.
- Courses will not be equalized if the number of credits exceeded 64.
- The grades of the courses to be equalized shouldn't be less than C.
- English language courses, Arabic language courses, and basic computer courses cannot be equalized.
- How is the course equalization process done and who is responsible for it?
The process of equalizing courses is done by an equalization committee in the university's main branch in Kuwait. The committee matches the courses' credits and contents with the courses in the Arab Open University. It focuses on the courses' final grades, which shouldn't be less than C.
The admission and registration office in Bahrain branch doesn't have the authority for making final decisions about courses equalization. The decisions are made by the specialized committee in the main branch.
- What are the needed documents for courses equalization?
The course equalization form should be attached to the official transcript and course descriptions of the courses that have been studied in the previous university. No equalization request will be accepted without these documents. If the needed documents were not complete, the equalization request will be rejected and will not be sent to the main branch.
- What is the studying system in the university?
Studying in the university requires a small percentage of attending classes. The student attends once every two weeks for the general requirement courses, and once every week for the major courses. Most of the studying process depends on self-study. The student communicates with the instructors and the rest of the students, and sends and receives Tutor Marked Assignments through a special web-site called ACES.

The amount of attendance required in the university is small compared to other universities. The student attends once every two weeks for the semester courses, and once every week for the annual courses. The student is not allowed to be absent from more than 25% of the assigned classes.
- Is attendance compulsory?
Yes, attendance is compulsory, and if the student was absent for more than the allowed percentage he will be forbidden from entering the final exam.

You can arrange your schedule according to what you see is convenient. The university provides several timings for each course, you can choose any timing you find suitable.

Yes, most courses are taught in English. That's why it is preferable that the student has a good English language background. This is also the reason for accepting students in the orientation program if they didn't do well in the placement test, so they can improve their language in order to facilitate their study.
- I cannot continue studying this semester. What can I do?
You can drop the current semester by filling a special form that is available in the registration office. The students are allowed to drop 3 continuous semesters maximum.
- I cannot attend the final exam. What can I do?
You must present an excuse letter to the examination department stating the reasons that prevent you from attending. If no excuse was presented, the student will get grade F in the course if he didn’t take the final exam.
- What is the studying period?
The studying period is four to four and a half years, according the major's requirements.
- Can I finish my study in less than four years?
It is preferable that the student studies for four years minimum to guarantee the accreditation of his BA certificate.
- I want to change my major. What should I do?
Visit the admission and registration department during the assigned period for changing major to fill in a special form. The fee of changing major is BD 5.
- I want to transfer to another branch. What should I do?
Visit the Students' Affairs department during the assigned period for branch transference to fill in a special form. The fee for transferring branches is BD 10.
